Humanities and Social Sciences Years 7-10
The Humanities and Social Sciences develops students’ understandings of the world that they live in, teaches them to listen to and respect those around them, to ask meaningful questions and make informed decisions about how to live their life and also how to think critically and communicate their ideas effectively.
In the Humanities and Social Sciences Learning Area at Eaton Community College year 7-10 students will be involved in the study of History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship and Economics and Business.
Thinking about, reflecting on, and responding to issues requires an understanding of the key historical, geographical, political, legal, economic, business and societal factors involved, and how these different factors interrelate
Studying Humanities and Social Sciences helps students understand how particular social, cultural, economic and environmental events from throughout history that define peoples’ life experiences. Knowledge of these events helps students to develop the ability to contribute to our culturally diverse society as reasonable and informed citizens.
The Humanities and Social Sciences subjects provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to develop a broad understanding of the world in which we live and how people can participate as active and informed citizens in the 21st century.
